Parliamentary Candidate: Jonathan Clamp

Jonathan Clamp was born in London. He is currently the senior manager in the Public Sector division of BT. He advises Local Councils on the use of IT to become more effective in the way that they deliver services to people – so that they provide value for money to their residents. He served as an elected Local Councillor in Kensington and Chelsea from 2002-6.

He is most proud of the project that he led to improve the life chances and educational attainment of children in care. He is passionate about improving social services, health, and housing for people. In particular, he has done a lot of work with disadvantaged children. The lack of youth facilities and activities for young people in Lewisham East is one of his main priorities.

Brian Chipps:

Brian is a retired electrical engineer who saw service both in the Royal Navy and in industry. He opposed the inappropriate planning application for the former Catford Greyhound Stadium, which in its present form represents a massive overdevelopment of the area. He appreciates the need for affordable housing and will continue to campaign for sensible redevelopment on the site.

Rowland Johnson:

Rowland was born in Guyana and emigrated to England in 1962. He joined the Post Office as a Clerical Assistant in the Accounts Department in 1964 and retired 25 years later as a Higher Executive Officer in the Management Services Department.

Rowland is an ex-member of the Royal Naval Auxiliary Service based in Greenwich and has lived in the borough of Lewisham for 48 years, first in Catford, then in Grove Park.

Rowland has been married to Estelle for over 50 years and they have three daughters, four grand children and one great grandson. Rowland’s daughters all attended local schools and he is particularly interested in education both in the borough and in the country as a whole, and also in health care.  His other interests include gardening, music and caring for his wife who suffered a stroke in 2005.
