Parliamentary Candidate: Jonathan Clamp

Jonathan Clamp was born in London. He is currently the senior manager in the Public Sector division of BT. He advises Local Councils on the use of IT to become more effective in the way that they deliver services to people – so that they provide value for money to their residents. He served as an elected Local Councillor in Kensington and Chelsea from 2002-6.

He is most proud of the project that he led to improve the life chances and educational attainment of children in care. He is passionate about improving social services, health, and housing for people. In particular, he has done a lot of work with disadvantaged children. The lack of youth facilities and activities for young people in Lewisham East is one of his main priorities.

Teresa Bentinck:

Teresa is married with two children and has lived on and off in the Lewisham borough since 1975.  She is a full time mum and is looking to do some voluntary work now that her youngest has started school full time.

Having been burgled twice in a year, she is concerned about crime, but her main interest is education.  She believes that the falling standards over many years has resulted in a poverty of ambition in the young.

Teresa is also interested in how her council tax is being spent: “I lived in Wandsworth before coming back to Lewisham, they were able to provide services without compromising standards at much lower costs – we need to do that here in Lewisham”.

She volunteers with the local campaign team.
