The Catford South Team

Parliamentary Candidate: Jonathan Clamp
Jonathan Clamp was born in London. He is currently the senior manager in the Public Sector division of BT. He advises Local Councils on the use of IT to become more effective in the way that they deliver services to people – so that they provide value for money to their residents. He served as an elected Local Councillor in Kensington and Chelsea from 2002-6.
He is most proud of the project that he led to improve the life chances and educational attainment of children in care. He is passionate about improving social services, health, and housing for people. In particular, he has done a lot of work with disadvantaged children. The lack of youth facilities and activities for young people in Lewisham East is one of his main priorities.
Andrew Lee:
Andrew has lived in Lewisham for over 50 years and has served Downderry School as a Governor since the 1980’s. Educated locally, Andrew is an experienced campaigner and former Chairman of East Lewisham Conservatives. Andrew says: “Labour Councillors have made many promises to Catford voters over the years, but the same old problems are still mentioned on the doorstep, nothing seems to change. The fear of going out after dark, poor street repairs, long waits for repairs to homes or poorly carried out work. Labour have had their chance here, Boris Johnson is already improving safety on local train services; as your Councillor for Catford I will work just as hard.”
Robert Mc Ilveen:
Robert has lived in Lewisham since 2008, moving from Sheffield where he did his PhD. He works in environment and energy policy for a major Westminster think tank, and has authored or edited reports on waste, energy markets, public transport and energy security. He is also particularly interested in education having taught at university, and election systems and strategy, the subject of his thesis.
Outside work he is a keen violinist and singer. He has also recently become a member of the Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Belmarsh. When he finds time he also enjoys swimming and going to the gym.
Sylbourne Syldial:
Sylbourne is a Children’s and Family lawyer by profession and a prominent member of community groups and organisations in South London. He is dedicated to advancing the cause of deprived communities and keen to widen their participation in UK public life.
Shadow justice secretary Dominic Grieve has said that Sylbourne “ has a long track record of working within the Jamaican community and in promoting integration and involvement. I know that he will make a very good councillor.”
Sylbourne is standing for Catford South and is determined to represent the interests of local citizens and ensuring that they have an effective voice on local issues.
