Simon Nundy, Conservative Candidate for Mayor, has promised to cut council tax by 5% in his first year.
He says, “In the last 8 years Council Tax in Lewisham has gone up nearly 55% with nothing to show for it, that’s two and a half times inflation. Meanwhile nearby Conservative led Wandsworth Council charges half as much and consistently manages to deliver better services.” Read more »

The Conservatives will support local councils in reducing council tax if they get into power.
David Cameron and George Osborne have pledged that if elected they will reward any council that keeps council tax rises to 2.5% or less. For councils that cut council tax this means the first 2.5% of any cut would effectively be funded by the Government. Read more »
