Plans for a new railway station at Surrey Canal Road are in doubt, as confirmation of the £7 million needed for the plans, is still awaited from the Government. Lewisham Council agreed to provide the extra £3 million needed for the £10 million station, provided the money from the government was received.
The station, which will serve Millwall Football Club, was due to be part of the second phase of the East London line extension. Local residents campaigned to have the station built, which is expected to serve 1.3 million passengers a year.
