GORDONBROCK SCHOOL – LATEST

Plans for the proposed re-build of Gordonbrock School have been delayed due to a procedural flaw in the planning application.

Planning permission was granted in December 2009 for two of the existing four Edwardian buildings to be demolished and replaced by a new build, and arrangements had been made for the school to decant to Greenvale over the Easter holidays.  A late legal challenge, however, was raised by the Brockley Society in March 2010, in relation to the planning permission.  Although the Council is still currently committed to the original plans, a new planning application will need to be completed, and the decant is unlikely to take place for at least six months.

An alternative to the current plan for Gordonbrock has been put forward by the Brockley Society in their feasibility report.  They propose a refurbishment of the existing buildings and the addition of a new build alongside.  Their proposals include a phased refurbishment strategy which they suggest will minimise or remove the need for a school decant.  The Council will be meeting with representatives from the Brockley Society to discuss their legal letter and feasibility report.
